About Erik A. Madsen

Erik Madsen, MD, is an emergency medicine physician at Penn Highlands Huntingdon. The Emergency Departments at Penn Highlands offer immediate access to specialty care for heart, stroke, brain injuries, neonatal intensive care, trauma and severe abdominal pain. Our emergency rooms also provide access to state-of-the-art diagnostic equipment, including MRI, CT scanner, PET scanner and other imaging and laboratory services. Dr. Madsen has published research on arteriovenous graft pseudoaneurysm and has presented research on topics including chronic kidney disease due to interstitial disease in Latin America and incorporation of Cd2+ node into MOM platform. Additionally, he has conducted research in the experience of healthcare professional trainees during the COVID-19 pandemic, the prevalence of Mesoamerican nephropathy and designing and testing absorption properties of Metal Organic Frameworks. He has presented lectures on pediatric ventilator management, neck mass in pediatric patient, estimating the risk of radiocontrast-associated nephropathy and more. Dr. Madsen has also participated in various service and leadership opportunities, such as mentoring Emergency Medicine-bound medical students in the USF Emergency Medicine Alumni Connections, providing medical services at remote surf camps, and providing healthcare to the homeless population in Tampa, FL.
